You like your girls insane

+ Born in Orange County, California, though when she was still an infant her family moved to Kuwait. Her family only lasted in Kuwait for five years, moving again when her mother died of illness and her father moved the family to Seoul, South Korea, where he was born and had family that would help support him and his three daughters. This is the life Sunny remembers, being raised by her grandparents since her father was always working.

+ Growing up Sunkyu often lived in the shadows of her two older sisters. They were older, smarter, more talented, and seemed to have their lives mapped out to the tiniest detail. Sunkyu struggled with being compared to them in all aspects. Why wasn't she pretty like them? Got good grades? Played piano like her eldest sister or wrote beautifully like her other sister? All Sunkyu was good at was being quiet and staying out of the way.

+ Some call high school the awkward years in your life, but for Sunkyu it proved to be quite the opposite. With her sisters in university and moved out she had the house all to herself. No more being constantly reminded of her failures by her sisters presence. She could lounge around, try new things, be herself and not be judged for it. While her grades would continue to be an issue she finally discovered that life wasn't all about that. She found acceptance in friends and discovered what her talents were.

+ A love of acting and singing sparked her interest in musical theatre. In high school she was part of the drama club and decided acting was the career she wanted to pursue. It wasn't exactly a career her father supported, seeing how his other daughters went down more established paths, but after seeing Sunkyu perform he couldn't deny that she had talent. So when it was time for her to graduate and go to university she choose her own path with dreams of going to New York and broadway
